THE VALUE OF THINGS
“The value of things” is a project in which the author makes a speech about the duplicity of identities, using as a main resource, a very popular puppet. In his proposal, he refers to the memory, using the figure of an old model from the 1970s to create a unique perspective of a puppet as an art form, a metaphor that explains many of the relationships that we, as subjects, have established in a world of pretences, deceptions and simulations.
The author places the spectators before a notion of themselves, completely linked to the idea of an aseptic and dehumanized representation. Through the puppet, the artist delegates to this 'alter ego' his true discourse, unfolding his own nature, bonding the choice of materials with his own personal history. Thanks to this range of simulations he connects his very own visual existence to the transparency of the umbilical cord that binds the puppet to his creator, using the culture of copy as an essential artistic resource.
‘The value of things’ es un proyecto en el que el autor elabora un discurso sobre la duplicidad de identidades, sirviéndose como recurso principal de la figura de un juguete muy popular. En su propuesta alude a la memoria, utilizando la figura del viejo modelo de los años 70 para crear una perspectiva única sobre el muñeco como una forma de arte, una metáfora que explica muchas de las relaciones que como sujetos hemos establecido ante un mundo de apariencias, engaños y simulacros.
El autor coloca a los espectadores ante una noción de nosotros mismos completamente vinculada a la idea de representación aséptica y deshumanizada.
Mediante el muñeco, el artista delega en este ‘alter ego’ su verdadero discurso, desdoblando su propia naturaleza y vinculando la elección de los materiales a su propia historia personal.
Consiguiendo, gracias a este ejército de simulacros, que su existencia visual quede vinculada a la transparencia del cordón umbilical que los une a su creador, valiéndose de la cultura de la copia como un recurso artístico fundamental.
